My First Featured Artist!

Tell us a little about yourself.
Hello!  I'm Emily Young, 23 years old and still in college at the University of Illinois.  I am not studying to become a chef or baker, but an industrial designer.  I have move more than 20 times in my life, both big and small moves.  I enjoy it though, so it's not so bad.  i love to travel and see new places.  I have a boyfriend, Justin Miller, who is currently at Marine boot camp in San Diego, so life will get a little bit different from now on!


Tell us a little about your art / craft.

My art would be baking. I really enjoy cooking and baking different new things.  I have done it all my life.  I'm just beginning to try different, more difficult things, other than the basic cookies and cupcakes.  I really like doing it, because it's very relaxing and fun to give people my creations to enjoy.  The funny thing is, I really don't eat them (which is good).  I eat one treat to make sure it tastes ok and give the rest away, usually to my fellow workers at Borders!

What inspires you?
I don't know what inspires me really.  At work I see books on baking cool creations on them and I want to try to do the same.  When I bake it usually is because I just feel like making something fun, lately I have been inspired by different people and holidays that come up.




How did you get started?  Have you always been an artist, did someone teach you your craft?
I've always been a baker and have been artistic.  Well my parents taught me how to make cookies and such, but I kept going with different things.

your favorite color?  Maroon
your favorite word? no favorite...
your favorite time of day?Afternoon
your favorite ice cream? It depends, either chocolate chip cookie dough or mint chocolat chip!


Which do you prefer...

Mountains or Forest? Mountains
Oceanside or Lakeside? depends...probably lakeside
Small town or City? Small town for sure...
